Lunch Hour Lectures | Universes multiverses and simulations
About the Lecture:
A tapestry of cosmic events stretching over the past 13.8 billion years have shaped our existence in a vast universe. This lecture will explore how the computer simulations to study the cosmos have developed in tandem with more down-to-earth pursuits like weather forecasting. We will see how the resulting computer codes have unlocked our understanding of the universe, from galaxies and black holes to the essence of matter. And the lecture will conclude with a look at the multiverse and the contentious idea put forward by some philosophers and scientists that we may already be living inside a simulation, Matrix-style. The talk is based on the lecturer's critically-acclaimed book “The Universe in a Box”, published in 2023.
About the Speaker
Andrew Pontzen, Professor of Cosmology at UCL
Andrew Pontzen is a professor of cosmology and author of the recent highly-acclaimed book The Universe In A Box. His award-winning research uses computer simulations to shed light on the cosmos. He has written for the Guardian, New Scientist, BBC Sky at Night and BBC Science Focus; appeared on BBC, Amazon Prime and Discovery Channel documentaries; and contributed to BBC radio programmes including Inside Science, CrowdScience and The Curious Cases of Rutherford & Fry.

When Labour are elected and Blasphemy laws are in force it will give Muslims a licence to rape our children. This lady needs to study Sharia laws and do a study of the effects a Labour Blasphemy law will have on non Muslim children. I am being respectful but also honest and realistic. Once we cannot question Islam and it's religious practices rape of children will have been legal. A judge recently excused a Muslim rapist because he did not understand rape if s not yet allowed in UK.

26:10 you compare all child sexual abuse related offences against Muslim grooming gangs that gang rape white girls and use them as sex slaves. Don't sit there with your 'facts' and pretend that you're being objective. Also they weren't convicted because the police didn't want to be viewed as racist and many have since been convicted. The independent Race Report 2021 actually found no evidence of institutionalised racism. Meanwhile another report shows that the police did in fact fail the victims of racist Muslim grooming gangs, just as you have done here.

Very informative, great facts, well backed up. It would be even better if you would not fall into the trap of the Powerpoint-terror. When you show your visuals, you end up reading out loud, and spending a lot of time, your illustrations, which the audience can literally read in 30 seconds per page. Consider telling an additional story that is not word by word on screen. The best part, story telling-wise, is the 1:1 in the beginning and the end.

""Dr" Ella"", you just know there's a flaw in an argument when they start with "right wing" you just know "facts" will be ignored, this is a classic case. I suggest ""Dr" Ella" should interview the victims of these grooming gangs, then the "Dr" may actually learn something. For the "Dr" to light heartedly split hairs - there is no law against grooming gangs; there certainly is a law for having sex with a minor. But again the "Dr" does not deal with the facts. Perhaps the "Dr" should also be reminded, anyone can be a muslim, as attested to Malcolm X - not just the Pakistani privilege.

The term ‘grooming gangs’ should be replaced with the terms: ‘Anti-White rape gangs’ ‘Modern Day White Slavery’ and ‘Race-Based CSE’. Honest discussions about ‘Child Racial Exploitation’ and ‘Child Racial Abuse’ are needed in anti-racism teams. Professionals should stop racially profiling White victims and family members as ‘far-right’ because this is a form of victim-blaming, racism-denial, racial gaslighting and blame-shifting. Anti-White biases need to be removed, so that White racism-victims are heard respectfully and sensitively. Government needs to set up an APPG on Antiwhiteism, to tackle anti-White racial demonisation, racial dehumanisation, racial stereotyping, racial scapegoating, race hate crimes, White Slavery, terrorism, and genocide.

Well perhaps that is because less than 1% of Pakistanis have been convicted and those that have have only been so for one rape out if dozens on dozens of girls and then given very short sentences which also enables the statistics to be skewed.
